There are many reasons why it can be difficult to get pregnant in a natural way.

One of the reasons why can be connected to the morphology of the sperm cell. 

 

The appearance of the sperm is crucial for the assessment of fertility. Various criteria are used to evaluate human sperm morphology with different classification systems for head, mid-piece and tail defects - which are identified under the microscope. Sperm cells can have defects to their head, midpiece and their tail (see below).
