Men are affected by the biological clock as well

Scientists have found that a couple’s chance of having a baby falls with the man’s age.

The new study was conducted by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology and concludes that men's fertility drops drastically after the age of 30 years.

It has long been known that women's fertility decreases as they grow older, but a new study shows that it actually applies to men too. We know that women are born with their life’s store of eggs which accumulate mutations as they age. As a result, the overwhelming cause of infertility in older women is a rise in abnormal chromosomes in their eggs. In men, the ageing process affects sperm quality, making it harder to achieve a pregnancy and increasing the risk of miscarriage.

This should be a reminder that it takes two to tango and that it’s not just down to the age of the woman.
